American Rock Maple
Also known as Black, Hard, Sugar, White Maple or Black Sugar Maple.
Commonly known as Rock or Hard Maple. Sapwood is light to creamy texture with little difference from the heartwood. Grain tends to be mostly straight but can have elements of wave and curl. The texture is close, fine and even with the growth rings clearly seen on the surface. Its uses include high class furniture, cabinet making, panelling and solid wood furniture. It is highly regarded for sporting arena flooring in squash courts, skating rinks and school halls due to its hardness.
