European Cherry
Also known as Gean, Wild Cherry and Mazzard.
Less available for its Commercial properties as opposed to its American cousin it is grown throughout Europe. Colouring varies from light pinkish o golden brown. It is a light to medium weight timber and has little movement after cutting. It is not used for structural purposes and if used in exposed conditions should be treated. A decorative timber used in fine furniture and fine cabinet making and glues well. It also turns well and is used in door knobs and handles.
