European Wanut
Also known as English and French Walnut and Circassian.
Originating in Turkey it has now spread far and wide into many countries. Originally cultivated for its nuts it is now a sought after wood for many uses. It has a thin pale clear defined sapwood that flows to a brown heartwood with hints of chocolate and purple colours. Texture of timber is coarse and grain will be reasonable straight and its prized for its veneer qualities. Good to work with tools need to be sharp. Wood can be turned and will finish well. An exceptional polished surface will be achieved. Highly valued for use in quality furniture and cabinet work and prized for gun stocks. Great also for panelling and decorative mouldings.
