Thermotreated Poplar

The thermal treatment process performed on the Poplar is used to increase durability and stability. Natural molecular changes occur when wood undergoes the targeted temperatures during the process. Polysaccharides (food for fungi) are removed during this high temperature stage and as a result durability increases. Moisture related shrinking and swelling is also eliminated by up to 90% during this process. The thermo-treatment process enhances the woods colour and changes cells structure (equivalent of aging the timber) creating an even brown tint that is consistent beyond the surface.
Tannins between cell walls are removed during the thermal treatment process, therefore tannin ‘bleeding’ or ‘leaching’ is eliminated.
This is the perfect timber for products such as external cladding or lining.
